Cap Inspector Conversion Kit

The new Model 2002 Cap Inspector Conversion Kit is for bottling facilities that have an existing  Vibrac system with an alpha-numeric keypad. This easy-to-install conversion kit includes a new enclosure with a SmartScreen Windows 10® control panel. Both an RS232 and USB port are provided for interfacing with peripheral devices. This is a cost-effective way to upgrade your existing cap torque tester to the newest control and data management technology without having to spend the money to buy a new system, and without having to re-validate your current testing procedure.

Before Conversion
After Conversion

Just like the Cap Inspector, with the simple touch of a button on the smart screen, the converted cap inspector can perform 6 different tests and can be used with all existing Vibrac tooling:

  • Bridge Torque - This test determines the rotational force needed to remove a cap and to break the bridges that join the cap to a tamper-evident band on plastic and aluminum caps.

  • Incremental Torque - This test is used to measure the removal torque of a cap and then reapply toe cap to a specific position beyond the original starting position. This test is designed to be a non-destructive test, and prevent leaking problems by reapplying the cap to a secure position.

  • Removal Torque - A non-destructive test, this is used to determine the peak removal torque of a cap. The removal torque is measured and displayed, and then reapplied to a specific value.

  • Reverse Ratchet Torque - This test measures the torque required to rotate a child-resistant type cap without engaging the child resistant mechanism (i.e., no vertical down force).

  • ROPP - This procedure is for testing Roll-On Pilfer Proof type caps. This test method measures the torque required to break the tamper-evident band bridges, and strip threads on ROPP caps.

  • Strip Torque Test - This test is designed to measure the torque required to strip the threads on any type of cap (torque limits may apply).

Non-Destructive Testing

Vibrac cap torque test system, the Cap Inspector, may be easily programmed to apply torque in the opening direction until it reaches its "break-away" torque, or the point of peak removal torque. It then stops and reapplies the cap to a set torque level, thus leaving the seal and integrity of the product uncompromised.

Leading the Way with Innovative Cap Testing Solutions

The Cap Inspector displays a live torque curve while a cap is being tested, allowing the operator to view a complete graph for each cap, not just the maximum torque value. Non-destructive testing allows you to return the tested samples to the production line.

  • Eliminates physical injuries related to the repetitive motion of manual testing (i.e., Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, tendonitis, arthritis), as well as data variables associated with hand testing

  • Produces repeatable results for simplifying reporting for quality standards verification

  • Data format is in digital format, as required for ISO 9000 series documentation and certification.

  • Provides accurate and reliable information that allows you to track performance and predict potential problems before they occur. By using the data provided by the Cap Inspector Conversion, you are able to rapidly identify problem situations and make corrections, thereby eliminating unnecessary expenses caused by defect
